I’ve always wanted to know how to do different things with hair, make-up, etc…but growing up my mum wasn’t really the kind of person that could teach me about any of that. I had a chin length bob with a fringe until I was 10, mostly I think because it was easier for mum to look after! She was the kind of parent who would brush my hair while reading me a bedtime story (I still like having my hair brushed), but not the kind who would play around with it to make me feel fashionably pretty!

Anyway, so as an adult, I really love tutorials that actually show you how to do those fancy-looking hairstyles, and I think that’s one of the many reasons I’ve fallen in love with Elizabeth’s Bridal Musings website. Weddings aside, she has a fabulous collection of gorgeous pictures, and all-important how to DIY guides.

Today her wonderful website showed me how to do fishtail braids, which have been featuring in a lot of fashion magazines of late. It’s not exactly life-changing, but that’s a new skill learnt for today!

xoxo!

It’s so fruffy I’M GONNA DIE!!!!!

that’s how I feel about giant fluffy soft toys too, little animated girl!

I’m not the biggest Madonna fan, but the quote below in this month’s (Australia) issue of Harper’s Bazaar really struck a chord. Sometimes I want to do things that none of my friends are doing, and sometimes I like exactly what they like – but the important thing is to know your own reasons for your actions/beliefs etc. Thanks for the reminder M :) .

“I…encourage all of my children to ask questions and investigate. I never want my children to come to me and say they want to do something because everyone else is doing it. That doesn’t interest me at all. You need to tell me your personal reasons about why it will benefit you, what you’re going to get out of it, what it means to you. Otherwise, you’re just a robot. You’re not thinking for yourself. Where would you go with your life with this kind of attitude?
